Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and spiritual unfolding

Description

The purpose of this article is to desctibe how EMDR functions therapeutically and explore some of the psychospiritual potentials that may have been associated with its use. EHtically, only licensed mental health professionals and interns who are supervised by EMDR-trained clinicians may practice EMDR. Once such professionals have completed such training, they will also need to apply all of their clinical skils to help their clients safely experience the deep and complex transformations that come about in the intensive sessions. For these reasons, non-therapists and therapist not formoally trained in EMDR should not attempt to use the eye movements of this procedure on themselves and others.
