Who’s there? EMDR with people who dissociate and/or have DID

Description

Effective EMDR requires confident use of EMDR by clinicians, particularly in highly complex presentations. Managing various aspects of complex presentations can achieve this confidence. The presentation will consider ways in which dissociation may appear in therapy and look at DID alongside other aspects of dissociation and multiplicity. It will then look at safety and trust for therapist and client. There will be a detailed discussion of how history-taking, phases 1, might be different when working with someone with DID. Phase 4 will be discussed with particular reference to rage, terror and despair and the emergence of the unexpected.
