EMDR preparation through the animal-human bond

Description

Clients with complex trauma and structural dissociation often require extensive stabilization measures, resources, and skill building tools. Drawing from the first Animal-Assisted EMDR protocol, Equilateral, this highly interactive workshop will provide attendees with the clinical rationale for, benefits to, and examples of conducting EMDR preparation through the human-animal bond. Attendees will be able to identify how animal-assisted preparation phase work can be utilized to create adaptive resource states while still maintaining EMDR treatment fidelity. In addition, cases of utilizing animal assisted EMDR preparation phase work to address structural dissociation through activation of the social engagement system will be reviewed.
