EMDR for health conditions: Perspectives from a psychologist and medical doctor
Description
Much has been published about the relationship between early trauma and adverse health outcomes later in life. Health outcomes that are influenced by, and have a complex relationship with trauma, can be difficult to treat with standard medical interventions. Eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) is being used in a specialized primary care setting that serves individuals with complex physical health issues and is showing itself to be valuable in the treatment planning within the clinic. This presentation will present the EMDR protocols and tools commonly used for health related concerns in the clinic, review important case studies and client reactions, and hear feedback from the perspective of a family doctor.
